THE REALITY OF NEGATIVISM IN AFRICAN HISTORY
Africa in real sense has witnessed and is still witnessing the problem of unnecessary associating African good things to her relationship with the outside world. Such situation has not been well to Africa. This is so because of the negative focus that is used to situations in Africa even from Africans themselves.
On the area of History, Africa is seen in a very subordinate scale. Africans mainly those from the western part of Africa have been seen as lineages of Arabs and other Middle Eastern orientations. This can be seen on the series of claims of origins pointing towards the Middle East of Asia. One basic thing is that all these claims did not originate out of researches carried out the African stake holders on African history. Another thing is that some of these claims are very ridiculous but most African and people around the world are made to stick to it as if they are outcomes of extensive research works carried out by reputable people. In this whole situation, African researches have not helped matter. They tend to recycle all these false claims and externally engineered claims. Most ethnic groups in Africa cannot give any reasonably origin of themselves.
Claims and counter claims happened to be the order of the day because of the fact that there are some levels of external influence into Africa. In Nigerian for instance one can observe an attempt to historically prove that Nigerians are not relevant. This is so because most ethnic group have seen attempts to prove that their origin is from Middle East of Asia. These claims cannot even be effectively proved. Some of them are very ridicules and unbelievable. For instances, some schools of thought tried to spread a claim that Hausas are products of one Bayajjida a Prince from ancient Baghdad kingdom. The story said that he came to the area known today as Northern Nigeria, killed a sacred snake and married the queen of Daura with whom he bore seven children that the theory refered to women that the theory refered to as seven Banza Bakwoi states.
There are many other ethnic groups that have very ridiculous externally oriented origin claims. This is not helping matter because it is making most African to see themselves from the mirror of other people from the other parts of the world. More importantly, all these ridiculous claims are helping to discourage extensive researches towards the origin of most ethnic groups in Africa. Though some African historians have tried to find out some of these facts but the dominance of externally created claims have not helped matters at all.
